FA Cup roundup

Mixed bag of results today.

Swansea (my Uni club) demolish Colchester 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Portsmouth (my home town club) fall to Brighton, runaway leaders of the 2nd tier. Can’t have helped having Kitson (ex-Reading player) sent off after 14 minutes for violent conduct.

Wolves (my chosen club) almost stumbled away to Doncaster Rovers. Lost the lead and went behind, all in the space of 6 minutes. Managed to score again in the second half to force a replay. If George Elokobi hadn’t have been sent off with quarter of an hour to go, we may have won the match.

Reading played West Bromwich – tough call as to which I wanted to lose the most. In the end Reading went through to the next round.

Best result of the day has to by mighty Stevenage (4th tier) ripping 10-man Newcastle United to shreds. Premier league? You’re having a laugh. On a side note, Stevenage had to beat MK Dons and then AFC Wimbledon to get this far. It would have been great for MK Dons to have won instead and so take on Wimbledon – I’d have paid to go to that historic tie.
